What is Trados Live?

Trados Live is the new and innovative translation productivity cloud from RWS. It works seamlessly with Trados Studio to bring you a uniquely powerful translation, project management and revision experience that can transform the way you work. Everyone, from individual translators to project managers running large teams, can utilize this dynamic combination to create a way of working that delivers higher quality translations, faster.

How do I get Trados Live?

You can access Trados Live through a subscription package. There are currently two subscription packages available:

Trados Live Essential subscription package

All Trados Studio 2021 users will automatically receive a free 12 month entry-level subscription package called Trados Live Essential when they first purchase Studio 2021. After this time, you will be able to purchase an annual subscription to continue using Trados Live.

You cannot purchase an Trados Live Essential subscription on its own, without Trados Studio 2021.

Trados Live Team subscription package

Our Trados Live Team subscription package offers even more cloud capabilities, so you can grow this solution as your business needs evolve. You can purchase an Trados Live Team subscription without purchasing an Trados Studio 2021 license should you wish. Find out more about Trados Live Team here.

When does my free 12 month subscription to Trados Live Essential start?

Your free 12 month subscription to Trados Live Essential will start on the date you purchase Trados Studio 2021 and will be valid for 365 days.

How do I use Trados Live?

Trados Live can be accessed through a browser on smartphones, tablets, Windows PCs and Macs. You can also access Trados Live’s cloud capabilities through Trados Studio on your desktop or laptop. If you wish to learn more about working in the cloud with Trados Live, please watch this video.

How do I access my Trados Live account?

How do I know when my Trados Live subscription is coming to an end?

You can view when your current subscription is due to end by accessing your Trados Live account:

Step 1: Login to your Trados Live account by clicking here.

Step 2: Click on your account icon in the top right hand of the screen and select ‘Manage Account’

Step 3: On this page, you will see a section entitled ‘Subscription expiry date’ detailing the date your subscription is due to expire

Once your 12 month free subscription to Trados Live Essential has come to an end, you will be able to pay for an annual subscription that will allow you to continue receiving all of the benefits of Trados Live Essential.

What browsers will Trados Live work with?

Trados Live is supported on the latest versions of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox and Safari.

How many devices can I use Trados Live on?

This will depend on what Trados Live subscription you have.

For those with an Trados Live Essential subscription, you will be able to access Trados Live on two devices; for example, on your laptop and smartphone. Should you wish to use Trados Live on another device, you will be able to manage your registered devices from your Trados Live account.

What is the Trados Live mobile app?

The new Trados Live mobile app gives you the flexibility to manage your translation projects wherever you are – create new projects, track your translation progress, check project due dates and lots more while out and about. The app can be downloaded for free from the Google Play and Apple app stores. For more information on the Trados Live app, click here.

How secure is Trados Live?

Can I share my translation resources and projects stored in Trados Live with other people?

The Trados Live Essential subscription does not offer sharing capabilities. If you want to start sharing your resources and projects with others, you will be able to upgrade your subscription to Trados Live Team. Find out more about Trados Live Team here.

Can I use an Trados Live Essential subscription to access cloud capabilities with other versions of Trados Studio?

The Trados Live Essential subscription is only compatible with Trados Studio 2021, the latest release of our Computer Assisted Translation (CAT) tool.

Where are the servers that host Trados Live located?

The servers that host Trados Live and RWS Language Cloud are located in Frankfurt, Germany.

My company has purchased a Trados Studio 2021 network license, how do we access our Trados Live Essential Professional subscription?

As you may know, Trados Studio Professional network licenses can be used by multiple people. We therefore issue one Trados Live Essential Professional subscription which the account administrator can add users onto, equivalent to the number of Trados Studio licenses they purchased. So, if a user purchases 5 Trados Studio 2021 network licenses, up to 5 users could be added to the Trados Live Essential Professional account.

As a Trados Studio 2021 network license holder, how do I add users to our Trados Live Essential Professional account?

The administrator can add users to their Trados Live Essential Professional account themselves by heading to the users section in their Trados Live account. Please note, they can only add the number of users equivalent to the number of Studio licenses they hold. So, if a user purchases 5 Trados Studio 2021 network licenses, up to 5 users could be added to the Trados Live Essential Professional account.

We have an Trados Studio 2021 network license and have been added as users on the same Trados Live Essential Professional account. Can we share resources?

No, when multiple users are added to an Trados Live Essential Professional account they are allocated their own workspace within the cloud. They do not share resources and cannot see each other’s projects or activity. To benefit from sharing capabilities, you can upgrade to Trados Live Team.
