Localization Tips From Speakers at Localization World 28

“What would be your top localization tip for the Localization World community?"

Last week Localization World 28 took place in Berlin, with localization and translation professionals from across the globe attending the event. We enjoyed meeting so many of you who visited are booths and would like to say a big thank you to all that attended sessions where SDL employees were involved.

Throughout the event we got in contact with speakers on Twitter and asked them to share their top localization tip with the Localization World community. Here are some of our favorite tips:

Don’t make localization a last minute decision because you feel it is what you need to do. You should make sure your localization strategy is embedded into your content planning right from the get go.

Your localization strategy needs to consider the customer, how will it impact them? Is the content correct for a particular region or culture?

Listening to what services your customers want is always a good start. As the old saying goes goes, the customer is always right…

The quality of your localization work can often be affected by the original source. Take a few moments to review and improve the source (with the authors approval) to ensure you deliver the target work as accurately and timely as possible.

It’s always important to consider what impact automating your localization process has on your team’s creative flow.

If you’re looking to keep your localization process as simple and straightforward as possible, consider centralizing and automating the process with technology such as SDL Studio GroupShare.

Have you got any other localization tips you would like to share with us? I’d love to hear some of them, share your tips in the comment section.
